Combined coking and steam coal (including anthracite) imports by Turkey reached 3.1 Mt in August, down from 3.8 Mt a year earlier, according to IHS.
For steam coal, total volumes reached 2.8 Mt versus 3.3 Mt last August, with Colombia remaining the largest source at 1.5 Mt, a four-month high, but down slightly from 1.6 Mt a year ago. Russia was the next largest steam coal supplier to Turkey in the month, with 1.2 Mt registered, down from 1.7 Mt last August.
For coking coal, Turkey imported just under 0.4 Mt in August with Australia the largest supplier at close to 0.3 Mt. The total was down from 0.5 Mt a year ago, when no cargo from Australia was registered.
