US August Coal Exports

The US exported 6.5 Mt of coal (including anthracite) to all destinations excluding Canada in August, up sharply from 3.8 Mt a year earlier, data from the US National Mining Association showed.

Coking coal exports hit 3.4 Mt versus 2.4 Mt a year ago, while steam coal exports reached 3.0 Mt, more than double the year ago level of 1.4 Mt.

Total coal exports in the January-August period stand at 49.5 Mt, up from 38.6 Mt last year.
