Chinese Iron Ore Imports by Source

Chinese iron ore imports from Australia rose from 55.7 Mt in August 2020 to 61.0 Mt in August this year, a breakdown of China’s customs data by source showed.
Imports from Brazil reached a five-month high of 20.5 Mt, yet this was still down on the 23.5 Mt imported in the same month last year.
South Africa remained the third largest source for China’s seaborne iron ore in the month, ahead of India, with volumes standing at 3.4 Mt versus India’s 2.5 Mt. For India this was the lowest level since November 2019, but for South Africa represented a four-month high.
