South African seaborne coal exports reached 5.0 Mt in August, a seven-month low and down from 6.1 Mt in the same month last year, official customs data showed.

Total seaborne exports in the January-August period reached 41.3 Mt, down from 47.4 Mt a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the country’s seaborne iron ore exports reached 5.2 Mt in August, up from the 4.7 Mt exported a year earlier but slightly lower than the 5.3 Mt shipped in July, official customs data showed.

Total seaborne iron ore exports in the January-August period reached 40.2 Mt, up from 38.7 Mt a year ago.
