Combined steam (including anthracite) and coking coal imports by Turkey in July reached 3.4 Mt, a three-month high but down from 3.6 Mt in the same month last year, data from IHS showed.

Steam coal imports reached 3.0 Mt, down from 3.4 Mt last August.  Colombia was the largest supplier with volumes hitting 1.4 Mt versus 1.8 Mt a year earlier. Russia was the next largest source with total imports coming in at 1.0 Mt, unchanged year-on-year.

For coking coal, imports reached 0.4 Mt, up from 0.2 Mt a year earlier and with Turkey sourcing all this volume from Australia, the highest monthly total from Australia since November 2019.
