Coal, Grain, Iron Ore
Chinese iron ore imports rose 2.7 Mt year-on-year to 91.2 Mt in July, however, at 627.1 Mt the first seven months of the year were 22.7 Mt below the same period a year before, official data show.
Meanwhile, coal imports recorded a five-year low for July, down 6.7 Mt year-on-year to 23.5 Mt. In the January-July period, imports fell 31.4 Mt from the same seven months a year before to 138.4 Mt.
At 7.9 Mt, shipments of soyabeans were 0.8 Mt below the same month last year, the lowest imports for the month since 2016. Reuters reports negative crush margins and reduced demand for animal feed from pig farms contributed to lower shipments.
