Iron ore throughput at Port Hedland remained strong at the start of 2022 with the highest January on record at 48.0 Mt, up 5.8 Mt year-on-year, port authority data shows. This is despite a 2.9 Mt fall from December.

By contrast, iron ore throughput at Dampier slipped 0.3 Mt lower year-on-year in January to 10.0 Mt, also 2.4 Mt below the December total.
