Total South Korean coal imports climbed 2.8 Mt year-on-year in January to 11.3 Mt, according to IHS data. Steam coal shipments (including anthracite) increased by 2.7 Mt to 9.5 Mt, with shipments from Australia up 1.4 Mt at 5.4 Mt. Meanwhile, coking coal imports from all sources edged up by 0.1 Mt to 1.8 Mt.
