Australia’s iron ore exports retreated to a four-month low of 75.5 Mt in November (wet basis), although still up by 2.1 Mt year-on-year, Australian Bureau of Statistics data show. Shipments in January-November were almost unchanged on the same eleven months in 2020 at 832.0 Mt.
Similarly, the country’s coal exports slowed to a seven-month low of 29.2 Mt in November. At 16.6 Mt, steam coal shipments were up by 2.1 Mt year-on-year, while coking coal cargoes fell by 0.3 Mt to 13.4 Mt. At 337.9 Mt, exports of all coal types in January-November were up by 0.9 Mt.
