Indonesia Coal Export Ban Update
Coal
The Indonesian government’s ban on coal exports to boost supply to domestic power plants remains in place despite speculation that its revocation could have been secured as early as 5 January, according to IHS. State power company PLN has reportedly secured an additional 7.5 Mt of coal and aims to increase stockpiles to at least 20 days’ supply. The company had previously intimated it needed a further 5.1 Mt of coal in January to avoid widespread power outages.
