Port Hedland Iron Ore Throughput Jumps

Iron ore throughput at Port Hedland rose sharply to 50.8 Mt in December, up by 4.3 Mt year-on-year and the second-strongest month on record for shipments after June 2020 (51.8 Mt), port authority data show. At 546.1 Mt, throughput in 2021 was 5.3 Mt higher than the previous year.

By contrast, December iron ore throughput at Dampier fell 0.4 Mt year-on-year to 13.3 Mt. Annual shipments were down 1.9 Mt at 136.1 Mt.
