Australia shipped 73.8 Mt of iron ore in April (wet basis), 0.7 Mt above the same month last year, according to official data. In January-April, exports were up 2.5 Mt year-on-year at 290.9 Mt.

In contrast, exports of coal fell 3.2 Mt year-on-year to 26.2 Mt, with January-April shipments 6.4 Mt below the same period last year at 110.3 Mt. Steam coal shipments declined by 1.4 Mt year-on-year to 13.8 Mt in April while coking coal fell 1.9 Mt to 12.4 Mt.

Meanwhile, bauxite exports rose to their highest in seven-months in April, 0.2 Mt above the same month last year at 3.2 Mt.
