Chinese imports of steam coal (including anthracite) dropped 4.1 Mt year-on-year to 6.0 Mt in May, the lowest shipments for the month since 2008, with January-May 18.0 Mt below last year at 33.2 Mt, official data show. In contrast, lignite imports increased by 2.5 Mt to 10.0 Mt in May, while shipments of coking coal rose 1.2 Mt to 4.6 Mt.
