China February Coal Imports Breakdown

China’s February coal imports (including lignite) fell sharply by 9.5 Mt year-on-year to 11.2 Mt, according to McCloskey data. Shipments from Indonesia plunged by 8.2 Mt to 6.6 Mt as cargo volumes struggled to recover following the country’s January export ban. Meanwhile, coking coal imports fell by 0.2 Mt to 3.0 Mt as overland trade from Mongolia slumped. However, coking coal imports from Russia and the US increased by 0.6 Mt and 0.4 Mt to a respective 1.1 Mt and 0.7 Mt.
