Crude steel output at China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills reached 2.0 Mt in the period 11-20 March, rising 4.6% from the previous ten days but 7.4% below the year ago level, according to data from the industry association.

Meanwhile, steelmaking operations in the major production hub of Tangshan are set to be disrupted by a Covid-driven lockdown put in place by local government on 22 March.
