Indonesian exports of coal (including lignite) rose 27.3 Mt to 433.4 Mt in 2021, according to Bank Indonesia data. However, December recorded a 7.0 Mt year-on-year decline to 33.6 Mt. Exports at the start of 2022 were restricted by a coal export ban in January.

Meanwhile, Indonesian exports of bauxite grew 0.5 Mt to 19.9 Mt in 2021, with December jumping 2.0 Mt year-on-year to 2.8 Mt.
