Chinese bauxite imports rose 1.4 Mt year-on-year to 10.1 Mt in December, customs data show. The increase follows a jump in shipments from Guinea by 2.6 Mt to 6.2 Mt, while imports from Indonesia fell 1.3 Mt to 1.0 Mt. At 125.6 Mt, total bauxite imports in 2022 rose 17.2 Mt.

Meanwhile, despite rising 0.8 Mt year-on-year to 2.8 Mt in December, the annual total for nickel ore 2022 was 3.3 Mt below the preceding year at 40.2 Mt.
