In December, combined coal throughput at the four main Queensland ports of Abbot Point, Dalrymple Bay, Gladstone and Hay Point reached a six-month high and increased 1.7 Mt year-on-year to 17.1 Mt, according to Port Authority data. Despite the increase, total 2022 shipments declined slightly from the previous year to 191.2 Mt and fell to the lowest annual total since 2013.
