Chinese crude steel production amounted to 168.7 Mt in January-February combined, 5.6% above last year however, still below 2021 output in the same two months, the country’s National Bureau of Statistics data show.

Additionally, Chinese real estate investment declined 5.7% year-on-year in January-February. Continued weakness in the real estate sector could undermine the recent rebound in steel production.
