New SSY Office in Dubai
November saw the opening of the latest Simpson Spence Young office, the 21st in our global network: SSY Dubai. The office will focus on dry bulk chartering and it will be led by Manish Pamecha.
Opening in Dubai puts SSY in very good company – in recent months Lauritzen Bulkers, Meadway Shipping and Norvic Shipping, to name but a few, have announced office openings in the city. These new openings sit alongside significant presence from the likes of Emarat Maritime, MUR and Oldendorff.
Dubai is a dry bulk shipping hub which is growing in importance as the region with its fast-rising population diversifies its economies away from oil and gas. Saudi Arabia’s hugely ambitious Vision 2030 is seeking to completely overhaul its economy and is calling for radical change and international investment.
Underpinning these changing economies are dry bulk commodities such as grains, steels, ore, bauxites and fertilisers.
"Dubai has all the ingredients for a successful maritime business hub: it's strategically located between Europe and Asia and has a fast-growing base of international shipping companies as well as fantastic infrastructure. This is an exciting new investment for SSY and we hope to grow the team further," commented Stanko Jekov, Head of SSY Dry Cargo.
